2 Month Stats & Lots of Pics

Carrie had a doctor's appointment yesterday and here are her stats:

9 lbs, 10 oz: 20th Percentile
23 inches: 75th Percentile

Everything checked out with her and both the nurse and the doctor commented on how alert she is :) She got three shots and wasn't too happy with them (obviously). She cried for about a minute, then once she calmed down, she fell asleep in the car on the way home. We kept some tylenol in her for the rest of the day, but she still had a rough afternoon. She seems to be much happier today so far ;)

I love how thoughtful she looks in this one. She's looking out the window and it makes me wonder what's behind me that's so interesting.

We caught a smile on camera!!
"Hmmmm.... what am I supposed to do with this?" -Her first experience with 'dangly' toys, she pretty much just stared at them

Check out the pink camoflauge bandaids from her shots

This is what sleeping through the night will do to your hair... "Mom, could you help me please?"

I was going to take an "after" picture of her hair, but she started smiling (well, smirking/smiling) while I was in the middle of doing it so I snapped this. I know her hair looks funny, I comb it up like that with a little gel first and then put the ponytail in it.
.
Now for news with Justin and me. He's heard back from a couple possible job opportunities that are still in the small "maybe" stages, but we're getting somewhere (slowly). I had an interview/orientation yesterday with a pediatric home health staffing agency. I still have to get my nursing license transferred from Idaho to Arizona and get fingerprinted before I can actually start, but it should be great. I tell them my ideal schedule, number of hours/week etc. and get to work when I want. :)
.
We got to have a temple date-night last night and then eat dinner at a friend's house. It was fun to have an evening together and get back to the Mesa Temple. We haven't been here since we got married (almost 3 years ago!!) We enjoyed remembering things about our wedding day together.

2 MONTHS OLD!

Two months have already passed, it's crazy! Carrie is such a happy girl to have in our home. We enjoy every minute with her. --Well, except for this past Saturday when she had an awful day. We never really figured out what was wrong with her, but she must have not felt good because she was cranky and sad and crying allll day. I kind of had to make her eat, and she wouldn't fall asleep for more than a few minutes at a time. Justin was at work almost all day so it was just the girls home alone. She was clean, dry, fed, no fever... nothing, but I figured since she had been crying so much she probably had a big headache. At 5, I gave her a little tylenol and she finally fell asleep about 20 minutes later. I was afraid to move, so I sat on the couch for the next two hours until she woke up to eat. Lucky for me, my parents live 3 miles away, so I asked my mom if she could run by the store and bring me some pedialyte and my sister brought me taco bell for dinner. (Thanks guys)

Carrie had her first experience with making strawberry freezer jam last week. She was awake the whole time we were making it, just watching us in the kitchen (me and my mom), but she fell asleep before we took the picture.

On Sunday, while I was getting ready for church, Carrie wanted to eat, so in order to not be late, I did a little multi-tasking. In case you can't see from the picture, I'm holding Carrie, holding her bottle with my chin while I'm putting on mascara...

We are still working on finding a full-time job for Justin (Hockey season is almost over) and at least a part-time job for me. Does anyone have contacts in the sports business world? Or any other management positions?

Two more St. Patty's Day pictures

There are never any pics of me anymore because I'm usually the one behind the camera. So enjoy this Mommy-Daughter bonding moment :)

Piggytails on St. Patty's Day!

We've reached another hair milestone with Carrie! Piggytails!! I decided to try it, even though her hair is so fine. If I put a little gel in it first, the elastics hold just fine. And then of course, because it's St. Patrick's Day, green bows to top it off. :)

Ahh... quietly sleeping during the photo shoot. --Dad walks through the door and startles Carrie awake

Giving Mom the grumpy face... "I just woke up"

Daddy trying to get Carrie to smile

The result of Daddy's efforts... Not quite a smile, oh well

Her surprised face

**Knock on Wood**

Carrie is a great sleeper!! (look at the title of the post) Just the last week or so, she's started taking a morning and afternoon nap instead of just cat-napping all day. I've actually noticed sometimes when she's fussy, she's just sick of me trying to take care of her. As soon as I put her down in her crib and leave her alone, she falls asleep for a couple hours. She's growing up!!

.
And to prove my point of what a great sleeper she is, here is a picture of her morning nap from today in Relief Society. I was holding her, trying to sooth her etc., but it seems all she wanted was her own chair! :)

She sleeps through noise (thanks in large part to my crazy loud family). We're over at my parents house a lot and it never seems to phase her with how loud things are. There's always something going on. We're actually trying to figure out how to make it a little louder at our own house because when we come home it's so quiet with just Justin and me.
.
She has also been pretty consistant lately with night-time sleeping. She'll usually eat around 8:30, be quietly awake until about 9:30 or 10, and then sleep until around 6am. :) *p.s. Knock on wood again, but she hasn't really been too colicky the last few days... everyone cross your fingers.
.
We love the quiet awake time at night because that's usually when she's most smiley and likes to "play" with us. We really enjoy our little family moments with her. Justin and I still look at each other sometimes and say "Wow... we're really parents?" It's awesome!

A Few Cute Pictures

I can't believe Carrie is 7 weeks old already!! Time flies when you're having fun, and boy, are we having fun. :) Carrie is smiling now (so far only at me and Justin, Grandma Lori doesn't believe us because Carrie has yet to smile at her). A couple days ago when Justin was changing Carrie into her pajamas, she looked up at him, smiled and giggled. I heard it from the next room and hurried in to see if it was actually what I thought. Justin was thrilled :) Anyways, here are some more pictures.

Trying on one of my new swimming suits (it's a little big, but it'll be perfect in the summer)

The other swimming suit

The Bunny-Bathrobe (garage sale, awesome right?!)

We are enjoying life everyday with our adorable little princess!!! I don't know what to write so if you wanna hear something specific, let me know :)

New Hair-Do

Carrie's hair is getting pretty long. So long, in fact, that I can't do it "mohawk" style anymore. It sticks up too much, even with the curl. So yesterday was the first try at just combing it over. We think it makes her look very grown up :) It's not quite long enough for ponytails or clippies yet, but we'll get there. (Actually, it's probably long enough, it's just too fine and they don't stay in for longer than 5 seconds)

Here's some pictures of what we've been up to lately :)

Enjoying our picnic lunch in the backyard
She stands up alllll the time! Those are some strong skinny little legs!
"Hugging" her heating pad. Poor girl has colic and loves the heating pad on her tummy
Trying out the new hair-do
This is code for "Mom, please stop taking my picture..." (Add in a weak, very fake whimper/whine and it's adorable)

Carrie's Blessing

Today was Carrie's Blessing and we had a lot of family in town. Justin's parents came on Friday and took Carrie in their room Friday and Saturday nights so we could sleep all night. :) It was nice, but very weird to not have her with us.

Saturday night was Carrie's first time going to the movies. I was afraid a little because it would be "time" for her to be hungry during the middle. We brought some milk and when she started fidgeting (but not really waking up or making noise) I gave her the bottle and "topped her off". She took about an ounce and stayed asleep the whole time. We got lucky in two different ways - 1st, she's used to loud noises which was good because we went to see "Taken", a tense, scary, loud, action movie, and 2nd, she will drink her milk cold.

Justin gave Carrie a beautiful blessing this morning in our ward and we had a lot of family and friends that came. We went to our house afterward for sub sandwiches and cookies and a LOT of pictures. When everyone left, Carrie fell asleep on the floor with her hands up over her head. I think we exhausted her! We’re getting more “posed” pictures of her and her dress tonight. We’ll post them later :)

**Rooster (my brothers’ puppy) figured out where to find Carrie’s binkies… This picture was not posed, we found her like this…
